Children, Education and Skills

Education and training, from providing the best start for young people to equipping the workforce, has a profound impact on the society, business and the economy of the countries of the UK. High quality statistics and data to support effective decision making and evaluate policy implementation is crucial.

The Children, Education, and Skills area includes statistics on various topics – for example teachers and lecturers, learners, and those not in education, employment or training – and covers all stages of education from early years to university and beyond.

We recently published our report Exploring the public value of statistics about post-16 education and skills in England. Phase two of this project, starting later in 2019, will explore the value of post-16 education and skills statistics in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
