Today, the House of Commons Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee (PACAC) has announced an inquiry into the work of the UK Statistics Authority.

This inquiry is separate from the short review of the Office for National Statistics commissioned jointly by the Authority and its sponsor department, the Cabinet Office.

Also today, the Office for Statistics Regulation (OSR), the independent regulator overseen by the Authority, has published an interim report from its Systemic Review of Economic Statistics. For questions about this, please contact the Office for Statistics Regulation.

Sir Robert Chote, Chair of the UK Statistics Authority, said:

“We welcome the inquiry and look forward to participating. Along with the independent review of the ONS that the Authority Board recently commissioned, jointly with the Cabinet Office, it will help the statistics system tackle its current challenges and opportunities.”
