Next steps

We plan to publish future updates to keep users informed. These will provide further detail against recommendations being taken forward, and on where work has not currently commenced.

The NSO has recently been set up to support the incoming National Statistician in their role as principal adviser on official statistics to the UK Statistics Authority and government. Whilst we await the National Statistician’s appointment, the NSO will focus its efforts on the areas where it can have the most impact, liaising with colleagues across the GSS on the delivery of Assembly recommendations. Once appointed, the new National Statistician will wish to shape the priorities arising from the Assembly including working with the UK Statistics Authority Board to agree the timing and nature of the next Assembly.
