Dear Ms Wells,

Thank you for your letter of 21 July to Professor Sir Ian Diamond about a graphic on face masks shared by the Deputy First Minister.

Mr Swinney has deleted the tweet in question and clarified his meaning. I welcome the commitment by him and the First Minister to using verifiable statistics in future, so that government communications can command public trust.
