The UK Statistics Authority has today announced that Dame Kate Barker has been appointed as the new chair of the National Statistician’s Expert User Advisory Committee.
Kate has recently stepped down as chair of the Advisory Committee on Consumer Prices (Stakeholder). She also worked on a Quality Review of the National Accounts (with Art Ridgeway) in 2014. Kate is presently chair of the trustee for the Universities Superannuation Scheme, and is a Church Commissioner.
Kate’s wide range of experience as a user of Statistics will be invaluable to the ONS.
Commenting on today’s announcement, Acting National Statistician Emma Rourke said:
“We are honoured to welcome Dame Kate Barker as the new Chair of the National Statistician’s Expert User Advisory Committee. I look forward to the experience that Kate will bring from her previous role as Chair of the Advisory Committee on Consumer Prices (Stakeholder), and I’m sure the committee will benefit immeasurably from her extensive knowledge as a user of statistics.”
We would like to express our appreciation and gratitude to Professor David Hand who has chaired the panel for the last three years, guiding on matters of user engagement and producing the report on the inaugural UK Statistics Assembly.
